ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized environmental management system (EMS) standard that provides a highly effective, globally accepted framework for establishing and continually improving applicable management system processes. ISO 14001 is the conformance standard within the family of ISO 14000 documents developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO 14001 outlines key requirements companies must comply with in order to operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
ISO 14001 provides Mistik Management Ltd., and its two shareholders - NorSask Forest Products Inc. and Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc., with an internationally recognized environmental management system demonstrating to customers that its forestry activities and related impacts are effectively managed, continually improving, and part of the corporate management system.
Mistik Management Ltd. (Mistik) achieved ISO 14001 certification of its environmental management system in August 2004. Effective ISO 14001 implementation should bring with it both reductions in environmental risk and environmental costs. By achieving this voluntary registration, Mistik is seeking to further improve its regulatory relations and demonstrate to customers and local communities and stakeholders that Mistik is committed to improvement of its environmental performance.
